Open the topics that apply to your job. You can discuss anything still undecided when you enquire.
01Where do you need lights and power?
Mark furniture, appliances, work surfaces and the places where switches will be used. Settle positions and intended equipment before the first-fix routes are installed.
02Can the existing circuits support the work?
An extension or room refurbishment may connect new work to existing circuits. The condition, protection and suitability of that installation need consideration alongside the new brief.
03When does the electrician need access?
First fix needs access before finishes close up. Second fix and final connection need the room, fittings and equipment ready. Share the builder’s programme and any undecided products early.
04Who supplies fittings and makes good?
Confirm who supplies fittings, handles extraction ducting, moves furniture, lifts floors, repairs plaster and decorates. A complete build includes work outside the electrical quotation.
05What happens before the job is finished?
Allow time for final checks and relevant certification. The installation should be ready for proper testing before the renovation is treated as complete.

Practical answers
Questions before you book.
When should I contact the electrician?
At the planning stage, before the layout and build sequence make routes difficult to change. Final positions and equipment information are needed before installation.
Ask Max about thisCan you coordinate electrical work with our builder or kitchen fitter?
The electrical work can be planned alongside your builder or fitter. Use the same current room drawing, confirm the appliance specifications and agree access for first fix and final connections. Nominate the person who approves positions and any changes during the build.
Ask Max about thisDo I need a full rewire for one renovated room?
Not automatically. The existing installation and proposed work need assessment before deciding between local alterations, new circuits or wider replacement.
Ask Max about thisWhat should be decided before electrical first fix?
Settle the room layout, appliance specifications, socket and switch positions, lighting groups and control requirements. Identify any outstanding choices before routes are installed. Share the plan with the builder and fitter so structural work, units and finishes leave access for the agreed electrical installation.
Ask Max about thisDoes the renovation electrical quote include making good?
Ask for floor lifting, room clearance, cable chases, plaster repairs and decoration to be assigned explicitly. They may be included, excluded or handled by other trades. Confirm the sequence and handover points so final fitting and testing can happen without relying on unfinished preparation.
